can you put dry ice in an insulated backpack?
I will be headed out on a long hot hike. I wanted to know if anyone has ever put dry ice in a backpack to keep water bottles cool throughout the day. Can you break small pieces of it off? Enough to just keep drinks cold throughout this 12 hour hike?
I don't know about the dry-ice idea but what I do when I go fishing or whatever is I freeze some bottles of water that way they slowly melt throughout the day and you have cold water all day. I also bring some unfrozen bottles with me so you can also pour that water into your frozen bottles and use them as your ice. You'll need to pour off some of the water from the bottles that you freeze to allow for expansion or the bottles will rupture or the caps will break.
