-Battle of Stalingrad
-Battle of the Buldge
-Generals : Patton, Eisenhower, Bradley etc.
-Deals with Stalin: Soviet Union captures Berlin, we want Japan..why?
-Technologies and war of firsts
and this has to based on the United States Military Involvement
thanks!
The Battle of Stalingrad was a Russian battle vs. the Germans and with pretty much no U.S. help with the exception of a few supplies. This battle marked the turning point of the war for the Russians.
The Battle of the Bulge was the final attempt suggested by Hitler to push the Allies back to the Sea. It took place in the winter of 1945. Allied command had no idea of the attack and the American forces were soon overwhelmed. Because the situation was so bad, the Airborne was sent in. Soon the airborne infantry men were surrounded with practically no winter clothing, ammunition, food, medical supplies and no armor vs. a well supplied German army with armor in the town of Bastogn. The infantry men held desperately onto the town until help arrived.
Besides radar, Flamethrowers and missiles, there was no new inventions. Most of the weapons were just improved ideas of WW1. For example: The tank, Sherman, Panzer; Airplanes, Me109, Buffalo, the Zero; Rifles and machine guns, MG42, MP40, Thompson, M1 Garand, BAR.
We actually wanted both, it's just that the Russians got to Berlin first. We never took a step into Japan (set aside Iwo Jima) and instead we dropped the atom bombs on them.
General George Patton was one of the best Generals in U.S. history. He was a common sense man who knew when to flank and when to go right down the middle. His men admired him and he impressed his superiors. He led men in Africa, Sicily, Italy, and pretty much the rest of Europe. He was most famous for his foul-mouthed speeches. One of his quotes was "The object of war is not to die for your country, but to make the other bastard die for his." I'm afraid I can't speak for the other Generals.
This is too much to type....
